A swoop excercise organised by the Nima Police Command at the the Kwame Nkrumah circle in Accra has resulted in the arrest of some 26 people suspected to be involved in all manner of criminal activities including phone theft.

The exercise took place on Tuesday evening following a tip off.

According to the Nima Divisional Commander, ACP Nuhu Jango, the 26 suspects would be screened to confirm their status and subsequently arraigned.

“The information we had is that people are selling at Circle and so we decided to embark on this exercise to see. Those arrested are all suspects, we are yet to screen them and we cannot confirm that they are all criminals.

“We have to screen them and after that there will be an official presentation,” ACP Jango disclosed.

Subsequent swoops are expected to be organised to ensure Circle and other areas are rid of criminals, according to indications.
